You Are Not Broken (A Hypnotherapist’s Perspective)

You Are Not Broken (A Hypnotherapist’s Perspective)…

Our traumas and limiting beliefs can create the illusion that we are broken beyond repair. This belief is nothing more than just that, an illusion.

Healing through hypnotherapy can help a client identify where this belief originated, release the emotions associated with this experience, and transmute the belief into a belief that will serve their highest good. This particular belief can branch itself into other limiting beliefs such as unworthiness, feeling unlovable, the inability to receive from others, and the inability to feel accepted by others. These may project themselves by creating blocks first within yourself, and then in relationships.

Therefore, during a Hypnotherapy session it is important to understand how the client feels about themselves to heal their relationship with others. On the contrary, how clients feel about themselves may have originated from the projection of another or how the client interpreted how another feels about them regardless of whether it is an accurate interpretation.

Clients may also feel as though they are a lost cause due to a previous therapy diagnosis that can also leave them feeling damaged and irreparable. A mental health diagnosis can come with a long list of symptoms and a defined personality that leaves little room for a client to feel worthy of creating an identity for themselves.

Time and time again, it has been proven traumatic experiences lead to higher mental health diagnosis like bi-polar and depression. Therefore, if the client is able to release the trauma and limiting beliefs associated with the trauma, why can’t they release their mental health diagnosis and medication associated with these diagnosis?

Regardless of which therapy branch a therapist specializes in, I believe it to be important to help clients understand they are not their diagnosis labels, they are allowed to change, and that they can feel whole even if they take medication and have chemical imbalances.

Our overall being, meaning our soul, is and always will be whole, regardless of what we experience as a conscious being. The lens we view through in this human experience, meaning our conscious mind, is multifaceted and trauma can cause us to separate and create parts of ourselves. Whether this serves us or not, the creation and separation is typically done to protect us and help us navigate our human experience.

Therefore, whether one chooses to do it through hypnotherapy, it is important to find ways to acknowledge these parts and understand their role in our human experience. It is also important to understand there is no need to cast out parts of ourselves that self sabotage our human experience. Rather, these roles are allowed to change and form a new identity.

The overall message is that clients are allowed to change and be given the opportunity to explore this possibility if they so choose. Many clients do not realize they have a locked in a box mentality and have never been given permission to have the freedom to create their own identity. Instead, they may hold on to the identity others have projected onto them. Therefore, a therapist’s role, whether it be hypnotherapist, is to help empower clients.
