Exploring Past Lives: A Hypnotherapist's Perspective on Why I Do Not Actively Seek Them

First, I want to clarify that I do believe in past lives and the idea that all of our lives are happening simultaneously. I also believe that everyone has the ability to go into past lives.

However, I do not look for them or offer them as a separate service. Why? Because my sessions are already three hours long, offering enough time for them to spontaneously come up if it is in alignment with the client’s session.

I understand some clients feel as though they need to seek it out because of their own experiences, however my overall goal is to lead clients to wholeness, while allowing the clients subconscious to tell me where they need to go. I set the intention for whatever the client needs to release to come up and sometimes it does involve a past life.

This leads me into my next point. I do not believe that all past lives clients regress to are actual past lives. This is an intuitive lead that I pick up on, it has a different feeling. The story that comes up is still very important and relative for the client’s session and the feelings expressed are very real blocks.

However,  I believe we have access to all of the stories that play out in the history and themes of the collective conscious and within ourself. Therefore I think it’s important for clients to not attach themselves to the identity of the characters in the story that come up. Attaching to these characters keeps us in the ego and the ego can keep us in locked thought patterns.

Our higher self wants us to grow, therefore I believe it will present whatever story it needs to release the blocks needed to move forward. This story could be from another life, it could be related to a theme in the collective conscious to provide perspective, or it could be different parts of ourself playing different roles. This shift in perspective is always the most important and often what is needed to release the block. Whether the story is a real event, we’ll never know, as it’s not my place as a hypnotherapist to define a client’s experience. My goal is to find the block in the emotional block and that feeling being released in the story is the block.

Now more than ever, it is important to simply use the past as a means for bringing awareness to how we can reframing our present, without attaching to it. It can be easy to get lost in what was and creating an identity around that. But true identity extends beyond a physical place and culture. Identity is energy. It is how we feel and what beliefs we identify with, because that is what is getting passed through the different lives, not the physical people, places, or things.

I look forward to working together,

Jarisa
