Overcoming Phobias

Overcoming Phobias With The Help of Hypnotherapy

Phobias are interesting in the way they present themselves. Many times, they appear to make no sense as to why they even form. But, the overall theme is protection. Our body is trying to keep us safe from a potential threat from a similar past experience from happening. Which is exactly what our body should do. Except it becomes a problem when we do not recognize the trauma stored in our body and it turns into a anxiety and panic in future instances. These instances do not have to be exact in the way it presents a threat, just a similar enough idea. Because our mind creates using patterns and it will create whether using an exact replica or an idea associated with the event.

Some Examples Of How Phobias Are Created and Each Is Overcome

The most common way is association to an exact circumstance. Let’s say someone is bit by an animal and they are now afraid of that animal or someone gets into a car wreck and is now afraid of cars. Sometimes it will translate in a general sense into all animals or any moving objects. Afterall our body needs to be as safe as possible, right? In this case, we release the feelings associated with the event and reframe the event.

I’ve had clients who developed someone else’s fear of something. Meaning my client felt someone else’s body become panicked by something that seemed dangerous and mistaken it as their own fear. This can happen especially as children when we are more open and receptive to others, but also unaware of what is and isn’t ours. This was a case where giving powerback was most important.

I’ve had clients who developed a severe phobia over a bug that was associated with a certain time period in their life. The trauma from that time physically translated to a physical object. The client already had a minor fear of them as a child, but the trauma from a specific time period is what really triggered the fear. To overcome this kind of trauma, it is important to release emotions surrounding the triggering event and reframing the events.

Final Thoughts

Our mind and body is fascinating in the lengths it will go to keep us safe. That is what they should do, but it is important to bring awareness back to the self. Through awareness, we will understand the why’s and through experience develop the how’s in overcoming more control in our thought process. It is okay to be right where you are in your journey, just know that support is here in taking the next step.

I look forward to working together,
